1984

1984 is a scientific novel written by George Orwell, which describe a dystopia society where everything is under supervision. After the throughout reading of this book, I am espicailly interested in one of the theme presented in this book. “Freedom and Restriction”, is one of the most relevant theme. Obviously, the author of the book is trying to convey us with an argumentation with the theme mapped in the real world. “The Big Brother” is directly corresponding to the government, typically ones with monopolization. The reason why I think it is a great book is the way Gorge Orwell depicted the most realistic way of the government and the feeling of a single, helpless individual under this atmosphere. While in our real world, this question is still a widely discussed conflict. If the government is ruling in a harsh, even cruel way with minimum tolerance and few leaders, its advantage is that it can quickly make a desiccation and reduce the bee bureaucracy of a government.

However, the fact that this kind of government highly depends on the leader himself, in other words, his own capabilities. Take an inappropriate example, the Qin dynasty. It rises with the efforts of generations and falls after a decade it rules the surrounding area. The major factor pushing it to rise is its emperor and the inhumane way of legalization. The disadvantage turns out very quickly and seriously when the second generation of emperor succeed. He turns out to be a corrupted guy while remain the same policy as before. In this way, it will be weird that the country didn’t collapse quickly. In my mind, there isn’t a complete crush between monopolization and its opposite, which is often refer as democracy or liberty. It only depends on the current situation and the leader in charge. As what is always said, “there is never a best solution, but a most suitable one.” A good government should consider the overall factor, resource, location, and politic factors, and hence, adjust their governing style.
